  2. throughout[prep]    Throughout this life we may have God's peace with us.
  3. foreign[adj]    The thought of doing wrong may seem foreign to God's people.
  4. huge[adj]    Noah's ark must have been a huge ship to hold all the animals.
  5. right[adv]    If we turn right or left, we do not walk straightly.
  6. twice[adv]    Moses twice struck the rock, and water came out from it.
  7. word[n]    "His word is his bond" is an old way of saying a man can be trusted to do what he says.
  8. moment[n]    In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, the dead will be raised to life when Jesus comes.
  9. effect[n]    The effect of prayer on sick people is being studied by scientists.
  10. gold[n]    The value of gold is rising.
  11. profit[n]    What is the profit of a lifetime of work if the worker loses his soul?
  12. combination[n]    The combination of prayer, faith, and righteousness is powerful.
  13. noise[n]    The noise of the wind can make conversation difficult.
  14. wave[n]    The wave of the sea can be large or small.
  15. event[n]    The flood of Noah's day was a very big event.
  16. increase[v]    You can increase your wisdom by reading the Bible.
  17. hand[v]    Will you please hand me the book?
  18. investigate[v]    I want to investigate this for myself.
  19. warn[v]    I will warn you, it's not as easy as it looks.
  20. attend[v]    If you attend your English classes every day, your score will improve.

  2. through[prep]    If you walk through the thorns, you'll get hurt.
  3. effective[adj]    An effective medicine will not always make a difference immediately.
  4. afraid[adj]    I am afraid that some things take time.
  5. surely[adv]    Surely, God will be with us as long as we obey Him.
  6. unfortunately[adv]    Unfortunately, not everyone knows that God loves him or her.
  7. chapter[n]    The last chapter in the book is often the best.
  8. analysis[n]    In the final analysis, each person is responsible for his or her own actions.
  9. freedom[n]    We each have the freedom of choice.
  10. child[n]    A child should obey his or her parents in the Lord, for this is right.
  11. trade[n]    The trade between two countries benefits both.
  12. works[n]    The works that you do will not qualify you for heaven.
  13. lady[n]    A lady is a polite and respectable woman.
  14. bottom[n]    It is very dark at the bottom of the ocean.
  15. knee[n]    We should bow the knee in worship only to God.
  16. enjoy[v]    You should enjoy your children while they are young.
  17. serve[v]    We may serve the Lord cheerfully, and do His work well.
  18. shut[v]    Shut the door of your heart to temptation.
  19. prevent[v]    This will help to prevent making a mistake.
  20. attach[v]    Please attach the file to your email message.
These vocabulary terms are perhaps among the 2000 most common words in English. Because of their frequent use, a wise student of the language will find each of these to be of a high priority during language acquisition.
